How Many Legislators Does it Take to Change a Lightbulb?

Why do people in California continue to allow the government to legislate them to death?
Are they incapable of making decisions for themselves? Do they need the government to step in and tell them which products to use, and when to use them?
A California lawmaker wants to make his state the first to ban incandescent lightbulbs as part of California's groundbreaking initiatives to reduce energy use and greenhouse gases blamed for global warming.
The "How Many Legislators Does it Take to Change a Lightbulb Act" would ban incandescent lightbulbs by 2012 in favor of energy-saving compact fluorescent lightbulbs.
Wow. Forcing the people of California to purchase the compact fluorescent lightbulbs (CFLs) should save the consumers tons of money each year.
California Energy Commission member Arthur Rosenfeld said an average home in California will save $40 to $50 per year if CFLs replace all incandescent bulbs.
Yeah, uh huh. $50 per year? While the energy savings alone make it worthwhile to use CFLs, they are going to have a hard time convincing people it's for the common good, if they're only saving about $4 per month.
