The Art Of Victimization

You have got to be kidding me!!!

The mother of comedian Chris Rock says she will sue Cracker Barrel after she was seated but ignored for more than a half hour at one of the chain’s restaurants.

Rose Rock lives in Georgetown. She says she and her 21-year-old daughter were the only blacks at the chain’s Murrells Inlet restaurant in April. Rock says she asked the manager about the delay and was told she and her daughter could have a free meal.

A spokeswoman for the chain based in Tennessee says the restaurant is investigating.

Spokeswoman Julie Davis says, “We do not tolerate any form of discrimination.” She says “it is neither condoned nor allowed.”

The Reverend Al Sharpton will join Rock tomorrow to announce that Sharpton’s Action Network will finance the lawsuit and seek class-action status.

This is asinine. Absolutely asinine.

Who hasn’t gone out to eat, at least once, and been “forgotten”?

Hell. Last week, I took my family to a little mexican restaurant near our house. We were greeted by a new girl we had never seen before.

We were seated in the back corner of the restaurant (we prefer the corner booth as there is plenty of room for our kids and their wiggle room).

We sat there chatting and laughing and having a good time, for nearly a half an hour. After a bit, we realized that no one had been over to get our drink order, let alone our food order.

Did I complain to a manager? No!

Did I get a free meal? No!

What happened you ask?

I walked to the front and asked the girl if anyone was going to be serving at our table. She turned white, apologized, and sent a waitress to our table. The hostess returned minutes later to apologize again. It really wasn’t a big deal.

Case closed.

No thoughts of racism, no need for a lawsuit.

It really is that simple.
