March 15th is International Eat A Tasty Animal for PETA Day.

From Yourish.com:

It’s coming on the time of year for the fourth annual International Eat an Animal for PETA Day, which Lair Simon has renamed Eat A Tasty Animal for PETA Day, which could become EATAPETA Day, but that’s really too cute for words, so of course, it’s going to catch on. But it’s International EATAPETA Day, because the blogosphere is international, and our reach extends from Australia to Zanzibar, all points between, and any points left out. You can register your activities on his site. It’s in beta right now, but go ahead.

I for one, will be planning an all meat meal for our family. MEAT, MEAT MEAT. We love meat.

Did you know, our oldest, who is 8, can put away 2 dozen spicy wings?

I showed him the graphic on this page, about the evils of fishing, and we spent the better part of the hour discussing the yummy goodness of freshly caught fish, and the benefits of burying their guts in the flower garden. He was quite impressed with my knowledge of fish body parts.

He was quite happy to learn that PETA members don't eat meat. That meant more meat for him, and he was thrilled with that idea.

Make sure you mark your calendar, because you do not want to miss International EATAPETA Day!

  5. Are you people that inhumane that you would go to such length to discourage people who’re trying to do the decent thing??.. Its interesting to know you have such an easy conscience.. cant you find it in yoursleves to atleast let others compensate for your lack of comapssion?

  6. We are inhumane?

PETA consists of people trying to do the decent thing?

    Are you kidding me?

From July 1998 through December 2005, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) killed over 14,400 dogs, cats, and other "companion animals." That's more than five defenseless creatures every day. PETA has a walk-in freezer to store the dead bodies, and contracts with a Virginia Beach company to cremate them.

PETA has killed over 80% of the animals it has "taken in". How humane is that?

In 2000, when the Associated Press first noted PETA's Kervorkian-esque tendencies, PETA president Ingrid Newkirk complained that actually taking care of animals costs more than killing them. "We could become a no-kill shelter immediately," she admitted.

PETA can't afford to take care of animals, so they kill them. How decent is that?

PETA claims it engages in outrageous media-seeking stunts "for the animals." But which animals? Carping about the value of future two-piece dinners while administering lethal injections to puppies and kittens isn't ethical. It's hypocritical — with a death toll that PETA would protest if it weren't their own doing.

While the "decent" people of PETA are fighting tooth and nail to make a chicken's life more humane before it reaches the dinner table, they are secretly killing non-food source animals to save a buck.

If PETA was truly ethical, and decent, there would be no double standard in their practices.

As far as my "easy conscience"…

I have not killed puppies and kittens to save money. In fact, other than an occasional squirrel, and one deer, that tried to play "dodge the headlights", I have never killed an animal.

The only animals I may have played an indirect role in killing are the ones I have used to sustain myself and my family.

So yes, my conscience is clean and "easy" as you put it.

No one needs to compensate for my "lack of compassion". I have plenty of compassion.

How come you have no compassion for the puppies and kittens? Did you even know about them? Or were you focused on the poor chickens who were bred solely to feed the millions of people in the world?
