For 14 years, from 1992 until 2006, this is what Capitol Police saw when Cynthia McKinney bypassed the metal detectors each day:

This is what walked by the metal detectors on Wednesday:

You certainly cannot blame the officer for stopping her.

A lawyer for Rep. Cynthia McKinney, the Georgia congresswoman who had an altercation with a Capitol Police officer, says she was “just a victim of being in Congress while black.”

No, she was just a victim of being in the wrong hair salon at the wrong time. Being black has nothing to do with it.

Her lawyer, James W. Myart Jr., said, “Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, like thousands of average Americans across this country, is, too, a victim of the excessive use of force by law enforcement officials because of how she looks and the color of her skin.”

I agree. Cynthia McKinney is a victim of the excessive use of force, although not by law enforcement officials, but rather an over-zealous hairstylist with way too much energy and not nearly enough talent.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven;

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth?

I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.

He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.

I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.

And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.

That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been; and God requireth that which is past.

And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other; yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.

All go unto one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again.

Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?

Ecclesiastes 3:1-22

Rest In Peace, Terri. Again, please forgive us.

We will be known forever by the tracks we leave.

The wail of police sirens is back and gunfire once again punctuates the night. As drug dealers move into houses damaged by flooding, alarmed residents say that in the last few weeks they have begun to sense a return to the bad old days before Hurricane Katrina, when crime was an omnipresent straitjacket on life in this city.

In the past, even when there were lulls in crime, many residents felt as if they were living in a city under siege.

But crime is nowhere near its pre- storm levels. With the city’s population reduced by at least three-fifths, statistics indicate that crime is down 60 percent to 70 percent over all, the department said.

Ummm… If three-fifths, or 60%, of the population left, wouldn’t it make sense that crime would drop by the same amount? So, statistically, crime hasn’t dropped. It has adjusted equally with the drop in population.

Capitol Hill police are expected to seek an arrest warrant next week for Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia, who was involved in a physical confrontation with a Capitol police officer Wednesday, police and legal authorities said Thursday.

Officially, the investigation of the incident, in which the DeKalb County Democrat allegedly struck a police officer who tried to stop her from going around a security checkpoint, is ongoing, said Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, spokeswoman for Capitol Hill police.

However, police have notified the federal prosecutor’s office in Washington that they will be seeking an arrest warrant after the investigation is complete next week, said police and legal authorities, who spoke on the condition that they not be named because the investigation was not yet complete.

If I did the same thing she did, I would already be in jail. Just about anyone else would be too. Why then, has she not already been arrested?

Do we really have to drag this thing out until next week? It’s much more fun to listen to her responses when they are spontaneous, rather than well prepared.

Cynthia McKinney sure knows how to play the race card. In fact, I think she holds a royal flush.

U.S. Capitol Police say there is surveillance video of a confrontation between an officer and Georgia Congressman Cynthia McKinney. But they say the video will not be released.

McKinney says that government security officers often fail to recognize her, and treat her like a criminal suspect.

Her critics in her DeKalb County district say she thrives on controversies she manufactures.

McKinney’s staff members are defending her by distributing a clip of her from the new film “American Blackout.” McKinney is showing the filmmaker around the capitol grounds, and a security officer fails to recognize her at first, and stops her.

“That’s just typical of the type of treatment I receive. It’s typical. So, I’m not surprised and I’m not offended,” McKinney said. “Okay. Thank you. Some things never change. That’s what Tupac said.”

And there you have it. It’s official. Cynthia McKinney is not an assault suspect, she is a racism victim.

I must admit it though, I expected to read this before going to bed last night. She’s slowing down.

As a blogger, how many times have you sent out a “link request”?

Me? Never

I have never asked anyone to link to my site. If someone wants to link to me, that’s kewl, if not, what does it matter to me?

As a blogger, how many times have you received a “link request”?

Me? A few times, none of them are on my list.

If you look at my blog roll, you will see many links in the list. Not one of them asked me to place their link on that list. They are there because, like the title says, they are blogs that I read.

Imagine that… Linking to people because you enjoy their site, and them linking to you because they enjoy yours. Wow. What a concept…

For those of you reading this now, wondering if one day I will link to your site, or vice-versa… This is for you. This could be the very tool that tips the blogging world on it’s side.

So… In his radio address this past weekend, President Bush said,

…As we debate the immigration issue, we must remember there are hard-working individuals, doing jobs that Americans will not do, who are contributing to the economic vitality of our country.

We must also remember there are hard-working individuals, doing their jobs, contributing to the economic vitality of our country, sometimes paying the ultimate price, and sometimes so close they know what it feels like.

The only survivor of the Sago mine disaster was released from a West Virginia hospital Thursday. Randal McCloy Jr. offered gratitude for the support he has received since he was trapped almost three months ago.

“I’d just like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers, and I think that’s it,” McCloy said softly, wearing a ballcap and a racing-team jacket.

His wife, Anna, who stayed with him throughout his recovery, added her own thanks. “Today is another part of our miracle,” she said.

Randal McCloy is a perfect example of the American spirit. There is no job Americans won’t do, really. If there were, West Virginia coal mines would be full of Mexicans, wouldn’t they?

Welcome home, Randal!

Cynthia McKinney punched a Capitol Hill Police Officer and her office issued a response.

Earlier today I had an unfortunate confrontation with a Capitol Hill Police Officer.

Yeah, you assaulted him.

It is traditional protocol that Capitol Hill Police Officers secure 535 Members of Congress, including 100 Senators. It is the expectation of most Members of Congress that Capitol Hill Police officers know who they are.

Of course, Members of Congress are expected to wear their Congressional pins or show their Congressional ID when asked.

I was urgently trying to get to an important meeting on time to fulfill my obligations to my constituents.

Your first and most important obligation to your constituents is to obey laws. You know, the same laws your constituents are required to obey as well. I don’t believe assaulting an officer of the law sets a very good example.

Unfortunately, the Police Officer did not recognize me as a Member of Congress and a confrontation ensued.

A confrontation which would not have occurred if you had been wearing your Congressional Pin, or if you had shown your Congressional ID when you were asked, the first time, or any other time, instead of waiting until the police officer had to stop you.

I did not have on my Congressional pin but showed the Police Officer my Congressional ID.

I know that Capitol Hill Police are securing our safety, that of thousands of others, and I appreciate the work that they do.

If you truly appreciated the work they do, you would respect the uniform they wear when they perform the work they do, you know, when they ask people without proper identification to identify themselves before entering the Capitol building, to protect the safety of those inside, and the thousands of others who might venture to Washington one day.

I deeply regret that the incident occurred.

I doubt it. I think you deeply regret that the incident was caught on tape. But, that’s just my opinion.

I have demonstrated my support for them in the past and I continue to support them now.

Your actions, and your non-apology do not demonstrate your support for them. You have not demonstrated your respect for them either, if you did, you would have apologized outright.

As a resident of the state of Georgia, I am appalled at your actions, and I am thankful I do not live in your district.

As I was catching up with RSS feeds, enjoying FeedDemon 2.0, I stopped by RadioBlogger and found out Hugh Hewitt is having another Photoshop contest to promote his new book, “Painting The Map Red”.

Well, Hugh’s new book is now officially out, and available for your viewing pleasure at all major bookstores, and online at Amazon.com. Here’s the assignment. Who are where would you find Paint the Map Red that you wouldn’t normally expect?

Now for the prize part of the contest. We’re going to put up a poll of the top 10 entries, and the top three are going to win the coveted Crosley Solo radio, worth $130 bucks. And, if that wasn’t enought, the first place winner is going to get not one, not two, but an entire case of Hugh’s new book, Painting the Map Red.

How cool is that? So… After looking over the 130+ entries already submitted, I realized someone was missing. So I went wild and sent in five entries. These two are my favorites…
