A Flip Of The Double Headed Wooden Nickel

Vice-President Dick Cheney shoots a fellow hunter, the press is not notified for several hours, and Democrats work themselves into a lather because of the “secretive nature of this administration”.

Two of the most vocal Democrats, however, are both guilty of doing the exact same thing.

When speaking about Vice-President Dick Cheney’s hunting accident, Hillary Clinton says:

“A tendency of this administration — from the top all the way to the bottom — is to withhold information … to refuse to be forthcoming about information that is of significance and relevance to the jobs that all of you do, and the interests of the American people,” Clinton said.

and Harry Reid says,

“I think the reason it took the vice president a day to talk about this is part of the secretive nature of this administration. The American people are not entitled to know what’s going on in their mind-set. They keep things pretty close to the chest.”

Yet, in an article from NewsMax, we learn that Hillary Clinton has a history of “withholding information”:

On Oct. 14, 2001, Clinton’s Ford conversion van blew past a security checkpoint manned by Officer Ernest Dymond, who said later that he immediately feared a repeat of the Sept. 11 attacks.

“The van went by me and we ordered them to stop and it continued going and we continued to yell to stop,” said Dymond. “I didn’t know if we had a terrorist,” he told the Washington Times.

The quick-thinking cop grabbed the door of Mrs. Clinton’s vehicle and hung on for dear life - banging away on the window until her Secret Service driver stopped.

Injured in the process, Dymond was unable to return to work for weeks.

Despite the fact that Mrs. Clinton was the leading elected Democrat in the country, the episode received almost no media attention, with only a handful of local news outlets picking up the story.

And FoxNews reminds us of the time Harry Reid “kept things pretty close to the chest”:

The Senate Democratic leader, Harry Reid (search) of Nevada, suffered a brief mini-stroke Tuesday, but doctors found no complications and he feels fine, aides said Friday.

One of the nation’s most powerful elected Democrats, the 65-year-old senator canceled several appearances in Nevada late this week. But his press secretary Tessa Hafen said, “There are no complications or any restrictions on his activities.”

“He honestly has been feeling fine this week, he was just doing some tests and running some evaluations,” Hafen said. “He has run 12 marathons (in the past). He’s in good shape.”

Asked why announcement of the event was delayed for three days, Hafen said, “The reason was the tests and the evaluations that they were doing. We wanted to make sure we knew what we were announcing. You need conclusive information.”

If hypocrisy was lethal, they would both be in serious trouble. Maybe they think “keeping secrets” and “keeping things close to the chest” are characteristics that should be overlooked in Democrats.
