Do my eyes deceive me?
In an interview with The Associated Press, Le Pen described the recent violence as “just the start” of conflicts caused by “massive immigration from countries of the Third World that is threatening not just France but the whole continent.”
Le Pen said people with immigrant backgrounds who commit crimes should be stripped of their French nationality and sent “back to their country of origin.”
Reminded that the vast majority of youths taking part in the arson and rioting are French, born in France to immigrant parents, he said: “What does that mean? Are they French because they have a French identity card?”
French nationality should be given only to those who ask for it and “who are worthy of it,” he said. “Those who got nationality automatically, who don’t consider themselves French and who even say publicly that they consider France their enemy should not be treated as French.”
Wow. The implication of this statement could be astonishing. Who would have thought such words would have come from inside France? Viva Le Pen!

According to Wikipedia,
Jean-Marie Le Pen (born June 20, 1928) is a controversial French politician.
He is the president of the nationalist party National Front, widely considered to be far right by the other political parties in France, including the PC, PS, UDF and the UMP, the 3 main metropolitan parties.
While Le Pen denies the far-right qualification, almost all commentators, parties, etc. outside of the National Front consider the National Front and Le Pen to be far-right.
Le Pen is known for advocating tough law enforcement policies, including possibly the reinstatement of the death penalty; strong restrictions on immigration to France from countries outside Europe; and withdrawal or at least far greater independence from the European Union. He claims that most of the French political and media class is corrupt and out of touch with the real needs of the common people. He has run in several French presidential elections, qualifying for the second-round of the 2002 election, where he challenged current president Jacques Chirac.
So that makes him 78, I believe.
Great post Slo. I have though Great post Slo. I have thought the same thing of some of the “newer” immigrants to this country. The naturalized citizens are still being raised by parents that may not hold allegience to this country. Hence we have our own problems. but as to your statement;
Who would have thought such words would have come from inside France?
A. I would love to know how old this person is.
B. I saw an interview of a French woman in her 80’s. This was done on the 60th anniversary of the liberation of France. The woman sat in a cafe and sobbed through the interview that if not for the USA, she would not have her motherland! It made me weep and proud of what this country has done.
