Hypocritical Question

Why would certain bloggers (they know who they are) keep insisting that Harriet Miers’ ideology not be considered in her confirmation, only to turn around a week later and mention the fact that Samuel Alito is a Catholic, over, and over, and over, again?
And how come no one else has said anything?

I haven’t seen it out there t I haven’t seen it out there though I haven’t done a lot of looking. His Catholicism isn’t terribly important, if important at all. I’d always prefer someone who is religious to someone who isn’t only because they usually have the same set of priorities I do. However, I heard that Bork was agnostic “at best” when he was up for the court and I would prefer him over any of the current justices. (I also have heard he has since converted to Catholicism, but that only proves the point that it doesn’t matter).
I like his record as a judge. I don’t have to go with “trust me” and I don’t have to discount mountains of scary information (at least not yet). He is well-qualified. This is a top-notch nomination and regardless of what you think of Harriet Miers, this is a huge trump card.
