Got I.D.? No Problem

Tuesday marked the first election in Richmond County in which voters were required to show government-issued photo IDs, and most citizens had smooth experiences like Ms. Dixon, said Richmond County's Board of Elections Director Lynn Bailey.
"We were concerned about the voter ID law issue, as we are with any change to the voting procedure," she said. "But it turned out to be a non-issue. As far as calls to our office or complaints, there really just haven't been any."
…
"I think it's good – there'll be less mistakes, and it's fairer," said Annie Blankenship, who voted at St. John's Towers on Greene Street. "Voting is important and we need to exercise that right. If I want to exercise that right, though, I need to be right in my actions."
For Ms. Blankenship as well as Ms. Dixon, whipping out a Georgia license was not only easy, it's how each has proven her identity since they began participating in the electoral process decades ago.
…
Ms. Bailey said conversations with poll workers throughout the county suggest that a majority of voters had been using the proper photo identification in previous elections, so no adjustment was needed this time around.
"We knew going into this that between driver's licenses and official IDs, 90 percent used one of them," she said. "That other 10 percent is what worried us. For whatever reason, everything's been fine with them."
…
"Most people seemed to know about the law change," Sharon Oatman said. "The ones who forgot their IDs went home and just brought them back."
Wow, imagine that. The new Georgia Voter I.D. Law had no adverse affect. In fact, based on this article and other news reports I viewed this evening, the majority of Georgia voters support it.
So, apparently, the only people who are having trouble digesting this new law, are those who aren't even eligible to vote in the State of Georgia anyway.
