NASA Deforms Horoscopes

NASA's mission that sent a space probe smashing into a comet raised more than cosmic dust – it also brought a lawsuit from a Russian astrologer.

Marina Bai has sued the U.S. space agency, claiming the Deep Impact probe that punched a crater into the comet Tempel 1 late Sunday "ruins the natural balance of forces in the universe," the newspaper Izvestia reported Tuesday. A Moscow court has postponed hearings on the case until late July, the paper said.

Bai is seeking damages totaling 8.7 billion rubles ($300 million) – the approximate equivalent of the mission's cost – for her "moral sufferings," Izvestia said, citing her lawyer Alexander Molokhov. She earlier told the paper that the experiment would "deform her horoscope."

What exactly would a deformed horoscope look like? Enquiring minds want to know.

Beth Holloway Twitty Sums It Up

The mother of missing American teenager Natalee Holloway asked Tuesday that two brothers who were held as suspects in her daughter's disappearance not leave Aruba until the case is solved.

Beth Holloway Twitty pleaded for other countries not to allow them entry, and for Aruban officials to notify the U.S. State Department, should they decide to leave the Caribbean island.

A judge ordered 21-year-old Deepak Kalpoe and his 18-year-old brother, Satish, released from jail Monday.

Their mother, Nadira Ramirez, told CNN that the family had canceled a planned vacation to Suriname so as not to give the impression that they were trying to flee.

And the brothers' lawyer pointed out that the young men were never formally charged and were free to leave the island — but would not.

Let's see, they have lied to authorities, been arrested twice, lied to authorites, refused to let searchers on their property, and lied to authorities. Why on earth would anyone think they might try to flee?

I have read reports from other sources that some Arubans are upset with Beth Holloway Twitty calling these two men criminals and incinuating that the Aruban court system is inept. Guess what folks? She probably nailed it with BOTH comments. I think she summed it up nicely by stating the obvious, and she has every right to be uspet at the Aruban government. We all know their system is different than that of the United States, but guilt is guilt no matter what soil your feer are planted on.

Evelyn Celeste Miller

Authorities in Floyd County on Sunday asked for more volunteers as they widened the search for a 5-year-old girl who disappeared three days ago while her mother was at work.

Nearly 400 law enforcement officials and volunteers, including two consultants from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Alexandria, Va., were in Floyd on Sunday to look for Evelyn Miller.

The child was not in her bed when her mother, Noel Miller, 22, returned Friday morning from her job as a nursing assistant.

Noel Miller told police that when she left for work her daughter was asleep in a room with two other children, ages 1 and 2, in an apartment they share with her fiance. Authorities on Sunday said the fiance, Casey Fredericksen, 26, passed a lie-detector test after he was questioned for about four hours.

Searchers on horseback and in all-terrain vehicles combed a 78-acre area near Floyd. Volunteers distributed more than 9,000 fliers. Specially trained police dogs were also involved in the search, along with an Air National Guard aircraft equipped with infrared technology. Divers scoured a quarry near Charles City. Boats and kayaks trolled the Cedar River for signs of the child. The effort was hampered by stormy weather and was officially called off at 5 p.m.

Floyd County Sheriff Rick Lynch said the search would resume at 7:30 a.m. today.

Evelyn Celeste Miller was last seen wearing light-blue flowered shorts and flowered shirt. She is white, 3 feet, 5 inches tall, weighs about 42 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. She is missing a bottom tooth and has a scar on her right knee. Anyone with information should call the Floyd County sheriff's office at (641) 228-1821. Volunteers should report to the Floyd Community Center.

Le Worm Does It Again

Anglo-French tensions heightened last night after Jacques Chirac delivered a series of insults to Britain as London and Paris fought to secure the 2012 Olympic Games and faced fresh disagreement at the G8 summit.

The president, chatting to the German and Russian leaders in a Russian cafe, said: "The only thing [the British] have ever given European farming is mad cow."

Miss Millot said she also heard Mr Chirac say it was not his fault that he had been half an hour late for the Queen at a royal banquet to mark the centenary of the entente cordiale in November. He said "the British did not respect protocol".

The Prime Minister, in Singapore to push London's bid for the Olympics against the favourite, Paris, was said to be furious when told of the comments. But officials said that, as the holder of the G8 and EU presidencies, he was determined to retain the moral high ground.

"There are some things that are just not responded to," his official spokesman said.

And that is what makes Tony Blair a true gentleman, and Jacques Chirac nothing more than a worm.

Viva Le Worm!
