Sen. Edward M. Kennedy says a nominee to succeed U.S. Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist probably would face less opposition in the Senate than would a nominee to replace one of the court’s swing moderates.
…
He added that he thinks that two sitting justices, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, “would be completely troublesome” as nominees. He ruled out any possibility of Thomas being selected, while acknowledging that Scalia might be harder to defeat.
Did someone forget to remind Fat Teddy that he is not the President of the United States again? Since when does he get to decide who will or will not be chosen to replace ANY member of the Supreme Court, let alone the Chief Justice?
Maybe guardianship was settled for the wrong Kennedy last week.
It’s a wonder that Mr. Kennedy remembers where to find the Senate each day.
