Atico Chair Recall

About 1.5 million children's folding chairs are being recalled because they pose a risk of fingertip amputation, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Friday.

The chairs are made by Atico International of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., which is voluntarily recalling them, the CPSC said.

It said the chair's safety latch can fail, causing the chair to unexpectedly fold or collapse, and a child's finger can become caught in the chair when it does.

Atico said it has received at least four reports of fingertip amputations and seven reports of lacerations, all to children.

The chairs are metal with padded seating and were sold in red, blue, yellow and green, either individually or as a set with a table. The chairs were sold from September 2002 through April of this year at hardware, discount, toy, grocery and drug stores nationwide for $10 individually or $30 a set.

Consumers are being urged to stop using the chairs immediately and contact Atico at www.aticousa.com or (877) 546-4835 for a full refund.

How does a product like this make it's way to the market in the first place? Seriously…

Psalm 57:1-2

Be gracious to me, O God, be gracious to me,
For my soul takes refuge in You;
And in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge
Until destruction passes by.
I will cry to God Most High,
To God who accomplishes all things for me.

Avila Guilty Of Killing Samantha Runnion

A jury convicted a factory worker Thursday of kidnapping and murdering 5-year-old Samantha Runnion, an Orange County girl whose 2002 death prompted widespread heartbreak, outrage and stronger efforts to rescue abducted children.

After deliberating for less than nine hours over two days, jurors convicted Alejandro Avila, 30, of kidnapping, murder and sexual assault. In the penalty phase, set to begin Wednesday, the jury will decide whether to recommend a death sentence or life in prison without parole.

Zell Miller Hospitalized

Former Sen. Zell Miller fell ill while giving a speech Thursday night and was taken to a hospital emergency room. His wife said he had flu-like symptoms.

Miller, 73, was in stable condition at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, according to nursing supervisor Tammy Harbison. She said she did not know what made Miller ill. The hospital said Miller was alert and cracking jokes, but would likely be kept overnight.

Pardon The Dust…

I decided to "clean up" behind the scenes and do a fresh, clean WordPress install. I figured with all the tinkering I had been doing over the last several months, it might be a good idea to get things all up to date at the same time.

Oh, and while I was cleaning up in the back, I decided to spruce up the front as well. I found this theme called "notebook" on Alex King's theme browser, and was designed by Stacee. I will be tweaking it a bit throughout the day to suit my needs.

Who knows what I will end up with… Stay tuned…

Things should settle here in a couple hours or so…
