Extremist Idiots

A new animal-rights campaign compares the murder of Jews in Nazi death camps to the killing of chickens and pigs in slaughterhouses - enraging Jewish groups and Holocaust survivors.

I sure liked PETA.ORG better when it was owned by this guy.

Non-Existent Threat

If war comes to Iraq, the Kurds of Kifri will be right in the line of fire. Iraqi officials have threatened that the moment the first American bomb lands, they will reply with a chemical assault on the town.

Funny. They will use chemicals that don’t exist in missiles they don’t possess, right?

Parrish the thought…

If you have been following along recently you might have noticed my recent entry about MP Carolyn Parrish’s remarks about Americans.

Well, I wanted to quote some information from another article appearing today, and then follow up with one last comment on the incident.

Who came to the rescue of thousands of displaced Americans on Sept. 11, when airspace was closed over the U.S.? Answer: the Canadians,” wrote Debbie Burton.

Whose troops were sent to Afghanistan to support your War on Terror? Answer: the Canadians. Whose troops were killed and maimed by ‘friendly fire’ when American pilots disregarded the rules of engagement? Answer: the Canadians.”

Of course, as an American, I was very happy that all “displaced Americans” made their way home eventually, after September 11th. Of course, I still do not see how Canadians “came to their rescue”. The fact is, there were thousands of displaced Canadians stranded here too, but we do not claim to have “rescued” them. They were taken care of, as were our citizens in Canada, as it should have been.

Of course your troops were with us in Afghanistan, and it was a tragic mistake that took the lives of your soldiers. We DO appreciate your friendship, and a majority of us do NOT think that your country knowingly provides a haven for terrorists.

You see, as an average American (with Canadian relatives, heck my mom was born in Canada), I view the Canadians as friends of the Americans. In no way, shape or form, have I (or anyone I know) ever thought of the Canadian people (as a whole) as anything less than friends of the United States, until now.

Why, in a little over three months would the communications director for the Canadian Prime Minister call our President a moron and then have an MP call ALL OF US bastards?

You do not see Ari Fleischer referring to world leaders by anything than their name, and you do not hear our other elected officials muttering derrogatory names about Canadians under their breath. (Of course, I have no way of knowing what they might be thinking though, nor do I claim to be able to hear them muttering anyway).

I think the following quote says it best:

A writer from Pennsylvania, however, doesn’t even believe Parrish ought to have apologized. “If she hates us, I’d rather her say it and at least have the guts to stick to it,” wrote David J. Crook. “I’d rather be aware of honest hate rather than the smarmy lies of a pretended friend.”

Friends tell friends the truth, and the truth is, you have not been acting like a friend lately.

Amazing, absolutely amazing

Members of the Maine National Guard, called up to prepare for an attack on Iraq, have asserted that their children are being harassed at school by teachers who oppose the war.

“What we’re hearing is that some of the educators are talking about the possible war in Iraq being unethical and that those who would fight it are unethical,” Maj. Rogers said.

If this had happened after Pearl Harbor before we entered the war, the teachers would be branded as TRAITORS.

What is unethical is the total lack of respect for these children and their parents who have chosen to STAND UP and SERVE to protect the rights of the very teachers that choose to IGNORE the fact that these children deserve better.

Shame on you.

Farewell, Neighbor.

Fred Rogers, who gently invited millions of children to be his neighbor as host of the public television show “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” for more than 30 years, died of cancer early Thursday. He was 74.

We were just talking about him the other day. Since he had recently retired, we were talking about how things were so different for our kids (like morning and afternoon tv).

Rogers died at his Pittsburgh home, said family spokesman David Newell, who played Mr. McFeely on the show. Rogers had been diagnosed with stomach cancer sometime after the holidays, Newell said.

Rest In Peace, Mr. Rogers.

Anti-War Shenanigans

Let’s see, if I had tried to call one of my senators today about issues important to me, I would have gotten a busy signal or an “all circuits are busy” message because some group of people think that the “Internet had emerged as a key tool for the anti-war movement in organizing protests and instantly reaching tens of thousands of activists”.

Wait a minute here. I wanted to talk to my senator about the proposed tax cuts, the funding of our local schools, and my children’s chances of going to college in the future, but no, some “activist” took the phone line hostage, so I could not communicate with my elected official.

“It allows us to be in touch instantly with activists all around the country and the world. It’s a tremendous democratic tool,” he said.

I would not call this democratic. You silenced my voice, which you had no right to do. I have just as much of a right to communicate with the officials from my state as you do, even more so, as I was not intending to deprive anyone else from communicating with them.

Tom Andrews, a former Democratic representative from Maine who is running the organization, said more than 500,000 people had signed up on the Internet to take part and a half a million more were also expected to participate without registering on the group’s web site (Moveon.org).

“We have hundreds of thousands of calls and faxes that we know are going in. It’s a first-of-its-kind protest and a tremendous success already,” he said. “People are making their voices heard loud and clear — don’t invade and don’t occupy Iraq.”

The current population of the United States is 290,350,520 (well, it was at the time of this post), and they had 500,000 sign up to protest and another half million expecting to participate (wow, 0.00344% of the people). Sorry bub, I will side with the other 99.99656% who did NOT harass, annoy or otherwise SILENCE their fellow citizens today.

There should be a law which makes it a felony to “prevent a citizen from communicating with their elected officials at any time”.

Just Another Moronic Statement

MP Carolyn Parrish was speaking to reporters about Canada’s diplomatic initiative on Iraq. At the end of her comments Parrish said, “Damn Americans ? I hate those bastards.”

Oh Yeah?

In a written statement issued Wednesday afternoon, Parrish says she made the comments in the heat of the moment in a private conversation. She says they do not reflect her opinion of the American people.

If she did not mean the American people, I wonder just WHO she meant when she said AMERICANS?

I know exactly what I mean, and who it is targeted toward when I say, “Moron”.

Walk On By

Dionne Warwick, who was arrested at an airport last year after authorities found marijuana in her bag, is blaming someone else for putting it there.

Isn’t that the excuse everyone (who gets caught with drugs) uses?

The 62-year-old was arrested in May and charged with a misdemeanor after baggage screeners at Miami International Airport said they found marijuana joints inside an empty lipstick container in her bag. Charges were dropped after Warwick agreed to a plea bargain deal, which included a drug treatment program.

If you were framed, and you don’t use drugs, why on earth would you PLEAD GUILTY and then enter a drug treatment program?

Come on Dionne, next time listen to yourself, and “Walk On By”.
