When I was a young lad…

Students rioted at Montwood High School Wednesday morning.

Okay, personally, I think some over zealous news reporter over-reacted.

Students reportedly walked out of class at about 9:30 a.m. to protest the school’s decision to shift to block scheduling for the 2003-2004 school year.

Police said they asked the students to return to class and the students refused.

In my younger days, I think we called this a “sit-out”. Hmmm. Oh, wait…

Officers say students threw rocks and bottles at them, injuring one officer’s hand. Police said they did use some mace.

I am sure the students did not start throwing things first.

The El Paso Police Department said the disturbance qualifies as a riot. They also said no children were injured and 11 arrests have been made.

The key word here dingbats, err, officers, is CHILDREN. Sheesh.
